Our Mission
Our mission is to craft an application that specifically caters to these challenges. The solution will empower children with essential life skills, reduce stress, and enable parents to effectively guide and support their children in developing strong organizational habits and a sense of responsibility.

Qualitative Research
The numbers behind the research
We researched apps like ChoreMonster, Privilege Points, Habitica, Brili, and Kazu Time.
Some focus on classroom communication, others emphasize kids’ routines. Some gamify tasks, others focus on rewards.
In comparison, TaskBuddy integrates time, points, routine, skills, and family collaboration.
Through a combination of primary and secondary research we found that:
Consistent routines create stability, though parents can struggle with maintaining a schedule consistency.
Children between the ages of 6 & 12 generally understand the concept of chores and responsibilities.
Families use a variety of tools to assist in time management including timers, checklists, and verbal cues.
Rewards are an effective tool for task motivation and are utilized by 75% of parents interviewed.
Technology is often used within households to assist with productivity, learning, and entertainment.
In this stage, we defined our users through personas, journey maps, user stories, flows, and storyboards.
How might we design an application that enables parents to easily manage tasks for their children while fostering self-motivation, independence, and responsibility?

Below are a selection of low-fidelity sketches and mid-fidelity wireframes the team created as we began to explore the visual design of TaskBuddy.
The team created a brand identity using a lively color palette and characters defined by their geometric shapes that are familiar to children of all backgrounds.

High-Fidelity Prototypes
Testing & Analysis
We conducted interviews and user testing through a combination of in-person and virtual testing. I was personally responsible for a large portion of the testing which I conducted virtually and in person.
We turned to Dovetail to help us streamline our data analysis, using tags to identify themes and develop insights that guided redesigns.
Prototype Iteration
Insights from multiple rounds of user testing guided us through redesigns. Below are examples of improvements the team made following testing.
Next Steps
Develop the Parent Report Dashboard.
Design the ability for users to switch between different profiles on a single device
Conduct another round of usability testing
Iterate based on the data collected
